Wax Peach
(Postmarked: May 29, 1997)
While at the Pacific '97 convention, Dennis and Chad heard a loudspeaker anounce that the convention would be closing for the day in 10 minutes. Chad challenged Dennis to a game of, "FIND SOMETHING THAT ISN'T NAILED DOWN AND MAIL IT TO SOMEONE." This is Dennis's entry, a wax peach from Avery's display of their 32c self-addhesive US Postage Stamp. They had a wicker basket of Wax Peaches, presumably for any one who wanted one.
Chad and Dennis went to put their found-mail in the special mail boxes for outgoing mail. There were eight mail slots for the eight different cancelations on a 10 foot high free standing Kiosik. Apparently, they had set it up for Philitelists to mail letters and postcards. As if Philitelists don't send parcels.....? So Dennis decided to throw the peach over the top of the Kiosik so that it would land in the mail bin for the top slot. A poor innocent bystander, (a young philatilist from Taiwan) let out a gasp as Dennis lobbed his wax peach into the bin. We're not sure if we fully introduced this different idea of stamp collecting/using to our phellow Philatilist, but one can hope.....Here's what Chad was making while Dennis was buying a 32c self addhesive peach stamp from the USPS for his wax peach parcel
